A freight quote is easy to compare on one number and hard to compare on everything else. The low headline rate can hide surcharges, slow transit, weak communication and an unwillingness to help when a shipment hits an exception — which every shipment eventually does.
What you’re really buying is reliability and someone who picks up the phone when cargo is stuck. Those don’t show up on the quote, but they show up in your costs and your customer experience.
Compare total delivered cost and the quality of the relationship, not just the rate per container. The cheapest quote often becomes the most expensive shipment.
